I’ve spent 75% of my life learning about wines from all over the world and I am thrilled to now devote all my attention to BC wines, of which I am so proud! The future of wine is right here where we live, work and play.

Mireille Sauvé is one of Canada’s most acclaimed Wine Professionals, and the founder of Vancouver’s most established wine industry consulting firm, The Wine Umbrella. A 30-year veteran of the wine and restaurant industries, Mireille graduated with honours from George Brown College’s Sommelier Program, earning her the title of ‘Canada’s Youngest Sommelier’ in 1997.

Throughout her career, she has completed a Winemaking Apprenticeship (Hedges Cellars in Washington State, USA), earned multiple top awards for her restaurant wine programs, and established Western Canada’s first Wine Australia office.

Ms. Sauvé founded The Wine Umbrella consulting company in 2005 with many international and local clients in addition to wine writing for various publications and featuring regularly as Wine Expert on radio and TV.

She holds many professional certifications as a wine educator and her latest project is to direct and hold the position of Winemaker for The Wine Umbrella wines – a fundraising initiative that raises money for British Columbians’ educations through Les Dames d’Escoffier, of which she is Past-President.

Mireille can be found instructing courses about wine and related studies at Okanagan College, Penticton Campus.
